Vaccinations

Vaccinations are an important part of a preventative health care plan. Vaccinations save the lives of many pets by protecting them from disease. At Green Dog Dental & Wellness, we follow AAHA – AAHA guidelines for core vaccinations. However, we treat each and every pet according to their lifestyle and recommend only the vaccines needed to help your pet remain healthy and safe.

Core Vaccines needed for Dogs:

  • Rabies virus
  • Canine distemper virus
  • Canine parvovirus
  • Canine adenovirus-2

Core Vaccines needed for Cats:

  • Rabies virus
  • Feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV1),
  • Feline calicivirus (FCV),
  • Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV),
  • Feline leukemia virus (FeLV – for kittens)

VACCINE BLOOD TITERS (For owners who hope to avoid vaccinations)

At Green Dog Dental & Wellness we understand some pet owners have a reluctance to vaccinate their fur babies. To address the concerns of pet owners, a procedure called the titer test can be used to help determine the need for vaccination.

A titer test is a blood test that measures the level of immune system proteins called antibodies. When your dog gets a vaccination, their immune system responds by producing antibodies which can then be used by the body to fight off future infections. The titer test determines how many antibodies are still in your dog’s blood after one or more years from the time of vaccination.
